who are we?
We are Paola and Ece: the mothers of Ada and Mira, respectively.
Our girls’ friendship was so spontaneous, natural and deep that it also created a similar bond between the two of us.
Paola is an Italian academic who teaches in a private University and is a cultural columnist for an international newspaper. Since she became a mother, Paola became a student of pedagogical sciences to help her better understand the world that exists in the minds of children. Paola loves painting, sailing in summer, snow in winter and drinking coffee with her friends in her free time because she passionately believes that happiness lies in the small things in life.
Ece was born in Izmir but stayed in Istanbul after university. After studying French, Ece started working in sponsorship, but her love for art led her to work in an art gallery in Balat until she became a mother. Ece loves music and believes that the notes of a song, just like the colors of a drawing, can paint smiles on faces, even when the world might seem rather drab.
Even though they are adults, Paola and Ece love to play, and it is precisely by playing with their daughters and drawing with them that they can peer into the rich and colorful world that lies within the hearts of little children. amistà was born through this understanding of how important it is for adults, when accepting their children for who they truly are, to try and see the boa constrictor who has swallowed an elephant, rather than only seeing a hat.
